Corona has impacted all of us. People have had time to reflect on their lifestyles and are now looking to make positive changes.

Having lived in London for nearly a decade, I can make a direct comparison between the areas. Folkestone has a bohemian feel akin to Greenwich, with a wide range of boutique restaurants and shops.

Getting around in Folkestone

The transport links to the continent and capital are excellent. Folkestone has a wide variety of property broken down into districts.

The west side of Folkestone has beautiful apartments and houses ideal for families and retirement.  There’s also some fascinating royal history to be found, including the Royal Folkestone hotel, situated on the promenade.

The east side offers superb value for money and has some really interesting shops, bars, and a diverse selection eateries catering to all tastes.

I now see a great demand for properties in Folkestone and I predict a large rise in people moving from the capital to coast. More and more people are now able to work from home, but for those that to need to commute, the Eurostar line to London is a convenient option.

The town of Hythe

Hythe is a very green and quiet town. It is connected by a canal walk by the park and has access to the beaches and a decent high street (complete with a great selection of shops).

There is a lot of interesting heritage and history surrounding the area including Saltwood Castle, Dover Castle, and Canterbury cathedral. Many buildings in the town also reflect Hythe’s historical heritage, with a plethora of medieval and Georgian properties dotted around.
