Research from our open-source data platform, Locality Reality, shows that Kingston-upon-Thames is currently the capital’s safest borough to live in.

Using street-level data about crime and policing in England, OneDome’s unique Locality Reality algorithm generated Kingston upon Thames a score of 8.99. This narrowly beat Sutton, which scored 8.95, and Richmond upon Thames which achieved a score of 8.94.

Other high performers were Bexley and Havering, whilst Westminster, Southwark and Newham were the three least safe boroughs with Locality Reality safety scores of just 3.97, 4.08, and 4.14 respectively.

Locality Reality is a unique way of mapping a specific London area. Free of charge, it allows home buyers, renters and the curious to learn about and compare areas on a postcode level.

Using a mix of data sources, Locality Reality calculates an individual score for seven key criteria. Including education, green spaces, transport and safety.

Users need only type in their postcode to find out their Locality Reality score.
