Hidden in plain sight in the heart of this pretty North Devon village directly opposite the church is this stunning example of a period home. I am completely undecided as to whether I love this house more because of its period looks and features, being located a short stroll from both of the village public houses, shop and post office, its large garden or the fact it has been restored and improved to meet 21st century expectations.

Often property seekers in the South West have a very specific set of wishes when they move to the area. In their minds eye they will often be looking for a character home in a village with parking, a short stroll from the pub and have a sunny garden. There must be an inglenook fireplace with log burning stove, countryside walks from their doorsteps and a short drive to the nearest coastline. It sounds like an impossible task to find all this in one place but that is exactly what is on offer in this dream Devon home.

If you will excuse the pun, size is also important! Robin cottage has this in spades with two good sized reception rooms, four double bedrooms the master of which includes an ensuite shower room whilst also boasting a large integral garage, quite the rarity with period cottages.

Countryside walks and fresh air is also very important which is where Dolton really comes into its own. A short distance away you will find yourself in Halsden Woods nature reserve with pretty woodland walks that follow the course of the river Torridge as it meanders its way through the valley, what?s not to like?

Ticking boxes aside, it is in my experience that the feel of the home is what will make you buy it. Only by visiting Robin Cottage you will know if it is "the one". I strongly urge you to take the time to experience it for yourself and would love the opportunity to meet with you there to help embed what you see on paper in the flesh.

Directions

From Torrington proceed in a southerly direction on the A386 signposted Hatherleigh/Okehampton and upon the leaving the town at the bottom of the hill turn left onto the A3124 signposted Winkleigh/Exeter, stay on this road passing through the village of Beaford whereupon reaching Dolton Beacon garage on your left hand side take the right hand turning signposted Dolton. Proceed into the village taking the third right turn into Fore Street. Continue towards the Royal Oak public house turning left by the shop into Church Street where the property can be found after a short distance with a for sale sign and name plate clearly displayed.
