Maywood House was built under the order of HM Queen Victoria in 1871 for a foreign ambassador. It passed hands to a wealthy property developer and then went on to become the Maywood school for ladies, where many famous girls boarded.

During WWII the British Army requisitioned this house for use of the Women's ATS (Auxiliary Territorial Service) and so became the training ground for HM Princess Elizabeth where she learnt to maintain and drive vehicles, etc. There are many pictures of the late Queen in and around the property and much written about her in Maywood.

In 2001, it was restored to its magnificent glory and the upper 2 levels were rebuilt in regency style architecture to maintain the character and period features, whilst modernising to today's standards. It was used as a 5 star hotel for a few years before being converted back into a family residence.

Throughout the property you will find attention to detail with focus on the regency architecture which has kept the property in keeping from its origins.

Upon entry to the grand entrance hall is the bespoke Jacobean staircase, marble flooring and throughout the property you will find fine painting and artwork with gold and silver gilding, archways, mouldings and pillars adding to many features this property has to offer. The ceilings in the principle rooms are approximately 12 feet high, various fireplaces and wood burners and access to the gardens. Leading to the first floor is a vast galleried landing with oak flooring. There are five double bedroom suites and doors leading to a small balcony. To the second floor there are three further bedrooms, bathroom and additional kitchen which would be ideal for self contained annexe for au-pair/nanny. There is also a large roof terrace ideal for entertaining.

The gardens sit in approximately 0.7 acre and wrap around the property from the front, side and rear. Beautifully landscaped with a Japanese garden area, pond with fountain feature, sandstone terrace ideal for entertaining and various lawned areas, vegetable patch and light woodland.

There is a detached WWII air raid shelter which has been converted as additional storage but would make an ideal home office/gym/secondary accommodation (subject to planning)

There is space for several vehicles and subject to planning, space to build a detached garage.

Camberley is within close proximity to some of the most famous golf clubs including Wentworth, Sunningdale, The Berkshire and Camberley Heath. The area is fortunate to have some of the best schools including Farnborough Hill (Camberley), Valley End and Windlesham Village (Windlesham), Wellington College (Crowthorne), Papplewick (Ascot) and Hall Grove (Bagshot).
