The property

The current iteration of Rearsby Mill was built in 1825 and, even as late as the 1950's, was a working Mill producing the famed 'Rearsby Loaf'.
The house is Grade II Listed and has more recent additions to the northern fa?ade, which integrate well with the original house.

Approached from the north via a 350m drive from the Thrussington Road, Rearsby Mill is accessed by a bridge and sits on an island amidst the River Wreake with a pond to the west of the house. If ever a house was immersed in nature, this is it.

The front door, leads to a porch and then into a reception hall with a wide staircase rising ahead. The hall has a large log burner with an exposed flue pipe running to the first floor, a seating area, copious bookcases and a cloakroom off. Above this area is a galleried landing. To the east side of the hall is a kitchen with a four oven Aga and a matching companion unit with ceramic hob. The kitchen has a range of farmhouse style units with granite work surfaces and a double Belfast sink. Beside the kitchen is a family room providing convenient eating and relaxing space. Emanating from the reception hall are, a sitting room with the original watermill wheels and gears and a working fireplace, a snug and the dining room, which has a log burner.

The staircase rises from the hall and leads to a galleried landing from which is the principal bedroom, with stunning views of the pond and beyond, and an en suite. There are a further two bedrooms on the first floor, one of which has a en suite, a family bathroom and separate WC and two further bedrooms employed as studies. The second floor provides two further double bedrooms.


Outside

The long drive leading to Rearsby Mill is flanked by two paddocks and culminate at the River Wreake where a stone bridge leads to the house. At the southern end of the eastern paddock there is a kitchen garden with parking, two stables, a greenhouse, fruit cage, workshop and a Three-phase electricity supply.

Crossing the bridge and turning left leads to a gravel parking area with a roundel. The garden continues to the east where there is an orchard and summer house. The remainder of the garden wraps around the house to the south and west and is bordered by the river. To the south east corner there is a pergola and seating area.

Attached to the garage via an awning is a run of outbuildings surrounding a sheltered courtyard. These include a playroom, two store rooms, a boiler room and a garage.


Location

Rearsby Mill occupies a superb position for transport being just 8 miles from Leicester for trains to London, and just 13 miles to Junction 22 of the M1. There is excellent schooling at nearby Ratcliffe College and further afield at Loughborough, Oakham and Leicester.


Directions

From the village of Ratcliffe on the Wreake take Main Street, which turns into the Thrussington Road, north east out of the village. After about half a mile, and after a right hand bend, you will see the entrance to Rearsby Mill marked on your right hand side.
