Location
The Old Bakehouse, an extended former bakery, is situated on the lower slopes of Lansdown, between Camden Crescent and Lansdown Road, a short walk from Bath city centre.
Bath is a World Heritage Site, famed for its Georgian architecture and hot springs, and has an excellent range of shopping, dining and entertainment facilities. It also has a good selection of both state and public schools and two universities. London Paddington is about 1 hour and 20 minutes away by train and Junction 18 of the M4 is approximately ten miles north. Bristol is some ten miles to the west.
Description
The Old Bakehouse is entered at a mezzanine level: stairs lead down to the ground floor and a bifurcated staircase leads up to the first floor. The ground floor is completely openplan. There is a large breakfast kitchen with a flagstone floor and spacious dining and living areas with French windows opening onto the south-east facing courtyard garden. There are exposed stone walls and high ceilings.
From the mezzanine level the left-hand staircase leads up to a wide landing and the master bedroom which is accessed through double wooden doors. It has a high ceiling, exposed stone walls, and a large ensuite bathroom. There is scope to create a third bedroom. There are lovely views from both the bedroom and the landing.
The right-hand staircase leads to the second double bedroom, which is dual-aspect, and the family bathroom.
Externally
The south-east facing courtyard garden can be accessed through the French windows from the living area, or externally via a gate to the side of the house. The courtyard is enclosed by high stone walls and steps lead out into the front courtyard, which provides a secure gated parking area, a rarity in lower Lansdown.
