Built around 1660 the Grade II Listed Threshing Barn is one of the oldest threshing barns remaining in Kent and the current owners spent five years painstakingly converting it into a unique and stunning home. Surrounded by countryside and approached off a country lane leading to a gated entrance and a large drive bordered by a brick and flint wall

It has immediate appeal with its catslide Kent peg tiled roof, original brick exterior with oak cladding and the original external threshing doors. These are open to the double height glass fronted entrance and French doors that provide immediate access to the breath-taking open plan living accommodation with exposed beams wherever you look.

The vaulted and double height central dining area includes the original flooring as well as views of the first floor glass and oak corridor, while the charming lounge has original brick walls, ceramic flooring and a multi-pane window with folding shutters. The modern kitchen includes a Rangemaster cooker, charcoal grey units with granite worktops housing various appliances, a copper sink with a Clearwater boiling water tap and a peninsular breakfast bar. The inner hallway includes oak open tread stairs with a glass and oak bannister, an archway to the study with its original brick wall and a door to the garden and access to the boiler and systems control room and an amazing bathroom with a brass slipper bath and vanity basin.

Upstairs there are two double bedrooms accessed via the corridor, both with en suite showers, fitted cupboards, exposed beams and vast picture windows overlooking the dining area.

The garden includes a wraparound path, a vast terrace and a large lawn with trees, a shrub border, a covered dining area and a separate covered seating area with an outdoor cinema and a barbecue. Outbuildings include a garage, workshop, container, log store, an outdoor bar, storage facilities and a two roomed outbuilding with kitchen and shower room. The property has excellent security systems, hard wired Wifi, a hive remote control system, underfloor heating on the ground floor and a generator.

What the Owner says:

We originally fell in love with the location and the characterful barn and worked hard to create what we thought would be our ‘forever' home. However our requirements have changed and we hope that new owners will appreciate everything this place has to offer whether as a permanent residence or a gorgeous country holiday home.
It is very quiet and peaceful but we are only about three miles from picturesque Chilham, with its pubs, shop, tea rooms and castle. There is also a farm shop and café, a primary school and the mainline station with trains that can whisk you to St Pancras in under an hour. An Outstanding primary school is available in nearby Sheldwich, while the medieval town of Faversham includes an excellent grammar school, Outstanding primary schools, restaurants, bars, independent shops and supermarkets.
Canterbury includes a plethora of ancient buildings, pubs, restaurants, high street stores, independent shops, recreational facilities such as a golf course and sports centre and two mainline stations. It also has excellent grammar schools as well as top class public schools and three universities.
