Whether you have a large family or inter-generational requirements, this unique country residence could be the answer. With origins believed to be in the 1600s it nestles in 1.47 acres of grounds surrounded by orchards in the Kent Downs AONB. It includes a two bedroom integral annexe, ideal for family or friends. Two sets of gates lead to extensive gravel driveways, flanked by large lawns with shrubs and trees. The entrance hall forms part of the original building and includes an inglenook fireplace with a Vermont log burner, exposed brickwork and historic beams. The impressive L-shaped lounge has beamed features and two sets of French doors, one leading to an impressive conservatory with granite flooring and the other to a walled terrace. The spacious dual aspect dining/sitting room includes a central beam and brick fireplace. A light and bright country kitchen and breakfast area have an AGA and oak units housing integrated and stand-alone appliances and space for a large table and chairs. There is a boot room, a snug with bi-fold doors to a large side terrace and stairs up to a snooker room, where you can also access the gym. The first floor has a family bathroom, shower room, cloakroom and five double bedrooms including the main bedroom with dressing room, seating area, en suite bathroom and a mezzanine floor with a shower room and double bedroom. The second floor consists of two double rooms currently used as an office and study. An inner hall includes a cloakroom, utility room, a door to the garage with an inspection pit and an opening to the annexe which has a double bedroom, access to a shower room, a contemporary kitchen and dining area, spacious lounge and sun room with bi-fold doors to a walled patio and a private staircase to a double bedroom with an en suite bathroom.

What the Owner says:

It was the location that appealed to us to move here 30 years ago. Although it is quiet and peaceful and completely surrounded by orchards and the countryside, we are only a couple of miles from Canterbury and Bridge while Bekesbourne train station is less than a mile away. There is also easy access to the A2 for London and Dover, and we are not far from the Channel Tunnel. It has been a wonderful family home but we need to downsize. During our time here we have considerably extended the property and enjoyed upgrading it and creating the gardens to become the delightful and extensive property it is today.
Bekesbourne also has a veterinary surgery, deli, cafe and gift shop as well as a village hall, a football club and Howletts Animal Park. St Peter's church has a very active community with many social events, church activities and a bellringers club. Bridge features the Red Lion pub, which also houses the post office, the Michelin starred Bridge Arms and the renowned Pig at Bridge hotel and restaurant. There is also a small supermarket, chemist and a handmade scarf shop as well as a health centre, dentist, hairdressers and a highly sort after primary school.
Excellent secondary private and state education is available in Canterbury including three grammar schools and the famous King's School plus three universities and a further education college. This city is also a UNESCO world heritage site with historic buildings, high street stores, individual shops, pubs, restaurants
