THE AGENT SAYS...
Lilac Cottage is a superbly presented terraced cottage dating back to the 17th Century and having been sympathetically extended, it offers wonderful light and airy accommodation. Further to the delightful sitting room and dining room in the original footprint, there is a spacious kitchen and large family bathroom. Outside is a lovely cottage garden to the front and enclosed private terrace to the rear.
ACCOMMODATION
The attractive wooden front door leads directly into the well-proportioned, cosy sitting room. This room, like the rest of the property, is the epitome of country style; there are original flagstone floors, exposed beams and stonework, a beautiful inglenook fireplace with open fire and original bread oven, book nooks/ ornamental ledges, and an enchanting window seat which looks out over the cottage garden.
A doorway at the rear of the sitting room leads through to the light-filled extension which houses the kitchen and large family bathroom. The spacious kitchen is full of character, with a vaulted ceiling showcasing the exposed beams. A Belfast sink, granite worktops and oak flooring add to the country aesthetic. There is plenty of storage space, with space for a range cooker and freestanding dresser or table and chairs. French doors open out to the patio area. Off the kitchen is the large family bathroom with bath and separate shower. Next to the sitting room is the charming, light and airy dining room which comfortably sits a table for 6-8 with the option to use as a study/hobby room or occasional bedroom.
A charming wooden staircase, accessed via a brace and latch door with exposed beams and rafters, rises from the dining room to the first floor where there are two bedrooms. The principal bedroom is a good size and full of character, with painted exposed rafters, nooks and ledges, and attractive floorboards. Bedroom 2 easily accommodates two single beds and additional storage furniture.
GARDENS AND GROUNDS
To the front of the property there is a lovely sunny westerly facing lawned cottage garden with planted borders all around, mature apple trees, roses, and a pretty painted shed providing useful storage. A grapevine covered pergola creates an intimate seating or dining area. At the rear is a delightful enclosed easterly facing private garden with a large terrace adjoining the kitchen making a lovely area to enjoy breakfast. Raised slightly above the patio is a further area of lawn encircled by borders.
AGENTS NOTE
Please note the property has a flying freehold over next door.
