Owls Roost is tucked away privately on the edge of the village. It was mainly built in recent years and comprises a very spacious contemporary house, all on one floor. Unlike most Cotswold houses the rooms are very light and bright, with plenty of windows and good ceiling heights. The sitting room is a decent size and has French windows onto a south-facing terrace. The large kitchen/dining room also has two doors to the south-facing garden. The kitchen area is well-equipped and is partly divided from the dining area by a raised wood-burning stove. Beyond is a study. The three bedrooms are all in a wing and are served by three bathrooms (two of which are en-suite). The main bedroom has French windows onto a south-facing breakfast terrace.
Somerford Keynes is a popular village, with a true community. It has a church, village hall and a popular pub (The Bakers Arms). Nearby Oaksey has a village shop and a golf course. Cirencester is just over 5 miles away and offers a good range of shops and services as well as the Corinium Museum and the Barn Theatre. The main regional centres include Cheltenham, Gloucester, Bath, Bristol and Swindon, all of which are within daily commuting distance. Road communications are excellent via the A417/419 dual carriageway linking Junction 15 (M4) at Swindon and Junction 11a (M5) at Gloucester. Great Western Train service from Kemble (3 miles) to London Paddington which takes approximately 75 minutes. The area is also well served by both state and private schools.
Both Kemble and Oaksey have primary schools and there are a range of local grammar schools. Private schools locally include Beaudesert, Pinewood, Westonbirt, Hatherop Castle, Rendcomb and the Cheltenham Colleges.
Owls Roost is approached from the village street by a long private driveway, leading past the paddock. The drive leads to a car port and an adjoining workshop. The garden lies to the south of the house and comprises level flat lawns contained mainly within hedging. To the north of the house and screened by high gates is a further area of garden.
