The traditional village and the surrounding parish have changed little over the years and has an active community based around the church and village hall. The neighbouring village of Clive has a well-attended primary school and doctor's surgery. The nearby county town of Shrewsbury offers an extensive range of recreational and educational facilities.
Schooling in the area is highly regarded both within the private and state sectors schools including Packwood Haugh, Prestfelde, Oswestry School, Shrewsbury School, Moreton Hall and Ellesmere College. The A5/M54/M6 are within easy reach giving access to Birmingham, Telford and the West Midlands conurbation. From Shrewsbury the A5 also provides quick access to mid and north Wales and links with the A53 to the Potteries and the A49 to Chester and Manchester.
Rail services can be accessed at Yorton (2 miles) where there are services to Shrewsbury, Crewe, Manchester and Cardiff.
The mature hedged gardens and grounds are an outstanding feature of Birch Hill and complement the surrounding landscape very well as well as anchoring the house in its setting. They have been imaginatively landscaped with a parkland feel. There are two copses, orchard and the paddocks would be suitable for equestrians.
With a wooded aspect to the rear the gardens surround Birch Hill and are mainly laid to lawn with mature borders, specimen shrubs and trees adding horticultural interest throughout the seasons. Fruit trees in the orchard include apple, pear, plum and damson. A mixture of materials, including brick, gravel, wood and stone, has been used to create various paths and terraces to enjoy alfresco living. There are outstanding rural views to the Welsh hills which are magnificent across all seasons.
Birch Hill has two driveways. Double gates lead to the tree lined gravel driveway that winds past the orchard offering a plethora of parking and access to the garage. There is further gated access to a secondary driveway from The Hill behind the house.
The acreage is around 3.71 overall.
