History
Hidcote House originates from as far back as 1663, inscripted at the very top of the central gable. Its first occupant was Sir John Keyte who was made a baronet by Charles II in 1660. This gable is one of the crowning features of the whole house, alongside the mullion windows, huge fireplaces and symmetrical rooms. There have been later additions to the property including Georgian features as seen with some of the panelling in the reception rooms.

The lead guttering and square downpipes which contain owls, rabbits and squirrels were designed by Norman Jewson, the famous Arts & Crafts architect-craftsman, who practiced in the Cotswolds. The mould for the downpipes are found in the Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum. The gardens of Hidcote Manor were created by Lawrence Johnston, there is talk that he too created the gardens at Hidcote House. More recently the house was lived in by one of theatre's most distinguished actors, John Wood.

Hidcote House
The house, Grade I Listed, can be described as being classical to look at with striking features and strong bones. There are three well-proportioned reception rooms on the ground floor with a kitchen wing occupying the former coach house. Upstairs there are equally well proportioned bedrooms with the top floor currently being used as storage but providing an opportunity to convert into further accommodation.

Hidcote House is situated on the edge of the hamlet of Hidcote Boyce, one of the most desirable and idyllic spots in the Cotswolds. The pretty Cotswold market town of Chipping Campden lies only 3 miles away, where there is a good range of shops catering for most everyday needs, a library, schools, a church and a doctor's surgery. Moreton in Marsh is to the south and offers similar amenities including supermarkets. The cultural centres of Cheltenham and Oxford are within close proximity and provide more extensive shopping, recreational and educational facilities. Local highlights include The Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Statford upon Avon and numerous welcoming village pubs in the area (The Ebrington Arms is the closest) together with the popular members club, Soho Farmhouse.

Frequent and direct rail services run from Moreton in Marsh, just 9 miles away, to London Paddington, taking approximately 90 minutes. Alternatively the Chiltern line to both Birmingham and London can be accessed from Banbury. Both the M40 and M5 motorways are within easy reach through a network of decent roads.

Gloucestershire is renowned for its excellent selection of schools. Local primary schools include Mickleton Primary School and Blockley Church of England primary school, as well as Dormer House, Kitebrook House and Beaudesert Park. Hidcote House is ideally situated for the Cheltenham schools, including Cheltenham College and Cheltenham Ladies College, together with the further selection in Oxford.

The surrounding countryside offers some very enjoyable walks including the beautiful gardens at the National Trust Hidcote Manor. Sporting opportunities include National Hunt racing at Cheltenham and Worcester, golf at Broadway as well as numerous other courses in the vicinity.

The gardens are mainly laid to lawn with herbaceous borders and surrounded by a wrought iron park fencing, yew hedging and walls. The structure of the gardens reflects the idea of rooms, a similar style to those found at the nearby Hidcote Manor Gardens.

There are numerous garages and outbuildings in the courtyard by the house, together with a shed next to the orchard to the rear of the house.
