We bought “The Oaks” 31 years ago because of its village location on a quiet lane and within easy walking distance of the Village Primary school, sports fields and extensive footpath network for country walks. We were looking for a family home with four good sized double bedrooms, a family kitchen, and large inter-connecting reception rooms suitable for entertaining with a good sized garden. We loved the glass internal doors as they make the downstairs very light.
We needed a family home with good access to the M3 and M4, Reading, London, Heathrow and Gatwick. Finchampstead Village provides these connections in a small, friendly local community, with easy access to shops and supermarkets in Yateley and Wokingham, and regular farmers markets in Wokingham. We are also within easy walking distance of several gastro pubs.
The Oaks provided us with a garden big enough for a young family which we have developed over the years to contain a variety of shrubs, fruit trees, and a fruit and vegetable enclosure.
The house now benefits from fibre to the premises broadband for excellent working from home internet connection. The Oaks provided excellent accommodation for a number of family members living and working from home during the pandemic.
We love the open aspect to the front of the house set back from Longwater Lane with driveway parking for several cars.

Properties on Longwater Lane do not become available very often, so when they do, they are snapped up, very quickly. Longwater Lane is a quiet, no through road, with stylish and executive homes. This home has a picturesque approach with a large green and open frontage. The home is situated behind gates and has parking for a number of cars, as well as having a double garage.
As you step inside, through the welcoming entrance, you'll be struck by a sense of space and light. The entrance hall seamlessly connects to the various living spaces, including a study/playroom, a dining room with a charming bay window, and a large lounge with a striking feature fireplace. Double doors in the lounge open onto the mature garden, making it perfect for indoor-outdoor living.
At the back of the home, there is a high-specification kitchen and breakfast area. This comes complete with Neff, built in, appliances and granite worktops. The underfloor heating adds a touch of luxury while keeping your feet warm on the chilliest of mornings. The kitchen opens up into the added conservatory, again with underfloor heating, providing the perfect area to relax and enjoy views of the garden. There is also the added benefit of having a utility room.
Upstairs, there are four, large, double bedrooms, all of which have built in storage. The master suite is particularly special as not only does it have a re-fitted en-suite shower room, with a heated mirror and towel rail but it has a large dressing room. This additional room would also lend itself to another study area. Finally, there is the family bathroom which features both a shower and a bath, again with a heated towel rail and mirror.
There is a private and mature rear garden which offers the perfect area to relax. There are several fruit trees and a greenhouse with a power supply. This home is truly special and not to be missed!

The village of Finchampstead is located to the south west of Wokingham and still enjoys a village culture that revolves around the cricket pitches and sportsman’s bar. There is a popular pub in the village and a traditional village store within a couple of minutes walk. There is also a Waitrose just a 5-minute drive away. From the front door, you can enjoy fantastic walks across the countryside, around lakes, and through woodland, linking up a few pubs along the way should you wish. The area is home to some of the country’s finest schools including the likes of Wellington College, St Neots and Ludgrove. Commuters are well served by the motorway and railway network and Heathrow airport is about 32 miles away.
