Merlindale is located in the charming small village of Yarrowford, set in the picturesque and rolling countryside of the Yarrow Valley, approximately five and a half miles from Selkirk - a popular market town, which used to be home to numerous textile mills and is situated just above the banks of the Ettrick Water. Selkirk includes a range of independent shops, hotels and pubs plus a small supermarket and several places to eat. Local tourist attractions include Bowhill House and Country Park, Ian Stark Equestrian Centre, Philiphaugh Visitor Centre and Abbotsford House, the former home of Sir Walter Scott, with its award-winning visitor centre as well as many other attractions in nearby Melrose. Local sports teams include Selkirk Rugby Football Club and Selkirk Cricket Club. There is also a swimming pool and a nine-hole golf course within the town. Local festivals include the historic Common Ridings held in the summer which is of particular note. There are also a variety of outdoor pursuits in the area that include fishing on the River Ettrick and River Tweed, fieldsports, horse riding, golf, lawn bowling, mountain biking, and a selection of walks in and around Selkirk including the Southern Upland Way. There is primary and secondary schooling within the town, which is the catchment for Yarrowford, as well as a doctor�s surgery. The Borders General Hospital, the largest hospital in the Scottish Borders is only 11.5 miles away, on the fringes of Melrose.
Selkirk sits in an easily accessible area and can be reached by the A7 which runs through the town and provides the links to Edinburgh or the north of England. The area is also served by the Borders Railway which runs from Tweedbank to Edinburgh, with a station in Galashiels and the terminus in Tweedbank both of which are approximately seven miles away from Selkirk. There is also a bus service, which passes through the town, which runs from the Interchange in Galashiels with links to Carlisle in the South, as well as Edinburgh in the North plus the other Border towns. Edinburgh International Airport and Newcastle Airport offer an excellent choice of destinations and are approximately 49.5 miles and 71 miles away respectively.

For those with satellite navigation the postcode is: TD7 5NA Coming from Selkirk and the A7 either from the North or South, take the A707 from the town down towards Philiphaugh, and signposted St. Marys Loch. Just after the rugby club turn left onto what becomes the A708. Proceed on this road for approximately four or so miles, until you reach Yarrowford. Around halfway through the village is a layby on your left; drive into the small road set opposite the layby and Merlindale sits on the right. Travelling on the A708 from Moffat, take the turn on the left on the approach into the village, signposted for the Village Hall.
