It was built by the powerful English baron John de Balliol, and is one of the most impressive fortifications in the region. The castle is surrounded by a massive curtain wall, with four towers and a gatehouse, and a drawbridge. Inside, there are two large courtyards, and a great hall. The views from the castle are breathtaking, with the estuary, the sea, and the Cheviot Hills stretching out in the distance. Edrington Castle is a great place to live, with plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, such as hiking and cycling. The nearby village of Berwick-Upon-Tweed is full of quaint pubs and shops, and is a great place to relax and unwind.
